VERSATILE PAPERBOARD AND CARTON TESTING (BENDING FORCE, OPENING FORCE, 4 POINT BENDING, SCORE QUALITY):
The SBT-90 measures the force to open or bend paperboard and scored paper carton. Force data is vital for accurately configuring machinery that controls cartons on form, fill and seal lines and to analyze carton performance for runnability and quality control.
The ability to predetermine settings in the production of cartons can increase overall efficiency. Maintaining identical package specifications between the producer and the packager has also shown to be of mutual benefit for increasing savings in less reworks, rejects and down-time.
The SBT-90 also measures spring back after folding providing critical information for sealing or gluing operations.
-----------------------
BENDING FORCE - TAPPI T577 (270503):
The bending fixture allows the ability to evaluated the maximum force to bend a carton sample up to 90°.
Measure bending stiffness, score ratio of scored vs. unscored paperboard and carton fold springback force.
The Bending Fixture uses a pneumatic clamp that is operated with a foot-control pedal. Pneumatic clamping ensures a secure hold and a higher repeatability than manual clamping.
A set of three reference plates are included that are used to verify accuracy.
-----------------------
OPENING FORCE (270501):
The box-opening fixture (Score Bending Test) is used to determine the force required to open a flat, folded carton into its packaging position.
A very interesting value to know and to be able to foresee problems in packaging machines, especially high-speed ones.
This device is placed on the traction machine and consists of two wedgeshaped jaws that hold the box in place.
It is a simple test, widely used in folding carton packaging. Commonly applied in industries such as pharmaceuticals, food, etc.

4 POINT BENDING - ISO 5628, TAPPI T820, T836 (271111):
Device for determining four-point bending in corrugated cardboard.
Non-contact bending measurement system using a laser device to ensure results are not affected, given the low test loads. In this way, it does not interfere with any mechanical device through contact with the cardboard sample to be tested.
It offers different configurations according to the flute and allows testing on specimens in both machine and cross directions.
It can be adapted to test both the outer and inner surfaces of the cardboard and is useful for evaluating the stacking and buckling of the box sides.
It complies with ISO 5628, TAPPI T820, and T836 standards.
Requires Capture Software for operation.
It connects quickly and easily to the Universal Testing Machine (UTM).

SCORE QUALITY - TAPPI T829 (271103):
This device is available to measure score quality of corrugated containers according to TAPPI T829 Score Quality Test. This fixture enables testing to measure the scoring strength.
A simple, easy to apply and highly useful test for adjusting die-cutting machines and printers in box manufacturing, as well as for the final customer to detect issues in automatic packaging machines.
The process is carried out in two phases:
- First, a three-point bending test is performed on the sheet without scores.
- Then, another is conducted on the scored sheet.
The scoring strength is calculated by the difference.
The device is mounted on tensile machines.
